 2020 is really close to being over. Let's talk about the best and worst musical things of this year. I made up a couple awards to talk about a couple artists and a couple songs. I am doing it this early to predict the nominees of an actual award show, but we'll get to that later. Best Lyrics Here are my favorite lines, choruses, and words said in the music I listened to this year. I made a top 8 list to cover more songs. 8.   Recently (By recently, I mean three months ago), I listened to SiriusXM’s list of the top 100 one-hit wonders, and it made me realize how bad some one-hit wonders are. Memorable is not always the same as good. At the time, I made my own list of the top one-hit wonders. One hundred songs sounded hard, so I decided to divide it into 10 genres with 10 songs each plus some honorable mentions. Over the course of two weeks, I made my list and have updated multiple times after I remember the song exists. I first heard this song when riding the train home from the airport and instantly fell in love. I followed the group since I heard their song “San Marcos” on alternative radio. About the group: Brockhampton is a hip-hop crew from Texas. The band was started in 2009 when their ringleader, Kevin Abstract, made a post on a Kanye West forum, asking if anyone wanted to start a band with him. He got many responses and had a group of 40 people who were interested. They were first performing under the name AliveSinceForever. A few years later, Kevin weeded down the real members by saying whoever moved to San Marcos, TX would be part of the group. They also rebranded to their current name, based on the streets Kevin grew up on. This led to the crew we have today. There are six rappers/singers, seven producers, a manager, a graphic designer, and a photographer, coming from all over the world. This is the best song of 2014. I am not accepting any rebuttals or sources that show that this song came out before 2014. I loved this song’s paranoid guitar line and nervous vocals from the beginning. I found out about this song by breaking rules. I was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the time. One preparation day, I discovered it, which is not appropriate behavior for missionaries. Anyway, I’ve loved the song since that moment and want to analyze the lyrics. About the Artist: Big Data is an electronic project by producer Alan Wilkis. He made a name for himself by remixing indie songs like “Sweet Disposition” by the Temper Trap among other, less famous songs. He released his first EP with this song on it in 2012. I downloaded his first album, 2.0, and it is pretty forgettable, other than the song we are talking about. He could be a one-hit-wonder if this song was a hit.
